We are sorry to announce that the UWI Distinguished Open Lecture and inaugural Lloyd Best Lecture to be delivered by The Honourable Mia Amor Mottley, SC, MP, Prime Minister of Barbados will not take place on Thursday, March 20 at Daaga Hall, UWI as planned.
The Honourable Mia Mottley has had to cancel her trip to Trinidad for the time being. She has the flu and wishes to avoid putting the health of other people at risk.
As a result, the lecture "Independent Thought and Caribbean Freedom" she was scheduled to deliver at UWI on Thursday evening has been postponed to a date to be determined.
Her planned meeting with students at Queen’s Hall on Wednesday, March 19 has also been postponed.
The Lloyd Best Institute sends Prime Minister Mottley our very best wishes for a quick and complete recovery.
We also apologise to the guests of both events for the disappointment and inconvenience these cancellations will surely cause, though there is simply no way around it.
The Honourable Mia Mottley has expressed her commitment to rescheduling this event and we look forward to letting you all know when it's back on the calendar.
