Starting Tuesday April 28, join us at the Lloyd Best Institute for a six-day series of events celebrating the bond between Trinidad and Tobago and Cuba! There’ll be an exhibition of photos and paintings all week, and events each night.
Tuesday April 28 at 6:30 p.m. Exhibition opens; conversation with His Excellency Gustavo Daniel Véliz Olivares, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Trinidad.
Wednesday April 29 at 7 p.m. "Bridging Nations: A Framework for Cuba–TT Trade and Co-operation" with Dr Jacqueline Laguardia Martínez
Thursday April 30 at 7 p.m. “Elemental vibrations of the Caribbean Rhythm” with Kenneth “Pan Am” Clarke, Master Percussionist and Chairman of Arima Steel Pan Institute Resources Education Center (ASPIRE) and Royston Batson, former Captain of HyArima Steel Orchestra and current Captain of Arima Angel Harps Steel Orchestra
Friday April 1 at 7 p.m. “Self-discovery: The Orisha Family” with Rawle Gibbons and Damian Richardson
Saturday April 2 at 7 p.m. “Training for Health and Medicine: The Cuban Model” with Dr John Ottley, Trinidadian medical doctor trained in Cuba
Sunday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Rueda de casino dance workshop with Roberto Cartaya. This workshop costs $100 and is a fundraising event in support of the people of Cuba.
The exhibition will be open each afternoon from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., or you can come and view it during one of the evening events.
